Conceptualization and Design Approach
ARCHITECTS OFFICE undertook the interior redesign of Casa Caburi in São Paulo, Brazil, to align the existing spaces with the evolving lifestyle of its residents. Lead Architect Greg Bousquet led the project, aiming to encapsulate the essence of the home by emphasizing concepts such as coziness, integration, and timelessness through carefully curated furniture, a thoughtfully selected color palette, and the inclusion of family heirlooms and collected items.
Emphasis on Social Areas
The design process primarily focused on the social areas of the spacious residence, which the owners desired to make more functional and adaptable to their current needs. Over the course of ten years, the accumulated experiences of the residents informed the redesign, prompting a desire for enhanced functionality and modernization.
Symmetrical Living Room Design
The living room, characterized by its symmetrical layout, was divided into two equal parts to foster intimacy and proximity among visitors. One side features a bar designed on a long, straight sideboard, while the other side centers around a fireplace crafted with elongated rectangular design and natural materials like stone. The symmetrical arrangement creates a harmonious dialogue between different elements within the space.
Artistic Elements and Integration
The design drew inspiration from two large travertine marble slabs placed at the entrance, covered by an expansive wooden panel to create a visually striking foreground. Dark-toned canvases by Arcangelo Ianelli complement the marble pieces, accentuating the symmetrical composition. Antique objects and silverware coexist with contemporary pieces, creating a symbiosis of styles that blend modern and contemporary design with pieces from other eras.
Harmonious Color Palette and Textures
The interior palette ranges from cream to brown, with textures spanning from stone to wood and upholstery. This carefully curated selection of colors and textures prompts a reflection on the interplay between similarities and contrasts, contributing to the poetic essence of dwelling in art.
Conclusion
Casa Caburi exemplifies a meticulous approach to interior design, where the essence of the home is captured through a harmonious blend of furniture, color schemes, and artistic elements. The redesign successfully translates the homeowners’ desires for functionality and modernity into a space that embodies coziness, integration, and timelessness, creating a warm and inviting environment for its inhabitants.
